HB Rentals is currently hiring a Certified Professional Mechanical/Structural Engineer in Broussard, LA.
Summary
This individual will be responsible for the review of client specifications, develop design basis document, run ABS/USCG design calculations, review and approve vessel drawings and Bill of Materials, communicate with project teams, shop, internal and external clients, check design documents and calculations of fellow engineers, support proposal, aftermarket teams as needed .
Responsibilities
Design support for projects including mechanical components, modules designs, stairs, porches, skids, etc. for land and offshore use.
Perform calculations utilizing mechanical/structural analysis computer programs.
Work with drafters to produce CAD drawings and designs.
Coordinate design efforts with section manager, customers, maintainers, and operators.
Assist with the review of design packages and engineering calculations.
It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (personal protective equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
Perform other related duties as required
Review customer specifications as applicable to confirm design compliance for the application, provide clarifications and exceptions.
Develop Design Basis Document to ensure compliance with client specifications, Governing Codes and/or Class 4 USCG standard specifications.
Run wind, wave, racking, seismic, acceleration and load design calculations. Confirm material requirements, NDE requirements, and heat treatment requirements.
Run engineering calculations to design lifting lugs, supports, platforms, ladders, etc.
Review and approve drawings and BOMs to ensure the design intent was met economically.
Attend weekly Project meetings; communicate efficiently with the interesting parties.
Provide technical support for trouble shooting.
Participate in 3-D model reviews.
Ensure proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication on proposals and projects.
Provide support to Procurement as needed.
Assist in the development of project schedules and manpower requirements.
When delegated must be able to assume a lead technical role over other engineers or project subgroups for completing specific tasks.
Assist in on-the-job training and mentoring of assigned personnel as required.
Provide lessons learned feedback to project and product teams.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years' experience within specific engineering discipline.
Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Office and mechanical/structural analysis based programs.
Knowledge of ABS, USCG and DMV regulations
Excellent communication skills; must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand, give, and take directions.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent organization and planning skills.
Effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
Familiarity SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor and RISA
Strong commitment to teamwork, productivity and customer service.
Education/Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering university
Professional registration PE is required
